Banking on Bardot
Why we love an off-the shoulder dress
The style icon, that was French actress Brigitte Bardot heavily influenced fashion during the 1960’s and 70’s with her selection of flirty bikinis, daringly short hemlines and most importantly today, the off the shoulder neckline. This a neckline which is seen everywhere today, from the runway to the high-street and has been commonly named the ‘Bardot’ neckline, a true testament to Brigette Bardot’s continuing and enduring influence on fashion and personal style.
More recently we have seen the off-the shoulder silhouette being used in eveningwear, creating a chic, retro and feminine look. At dress2party we are loving the Bardot neckline, whether it is worn as a crop top in a sexy floral two piece, in a ball gown or in a short dress with a full skirt for a super flirty look.
Below we have listed a few of our fave Bardot dresses from our favorite designers, Sherri Hill and Jovani.
(FYI some of our Bardot dresses come with matching chokers, creating a truly retro look perfect for any dress2party babe)
